Coach
Rob Coutts is an actor, improviser, voice artist and facilitator with a BA in Live Performance from AFDA. Working professionally across stage and screen since 2007, Rob has appeared in theatre productions, television series, films and commercials, including Black Sails, Around the World in 80 Days, A Family Affair and Abraham Lincoln, among many others, while also lending his voice to numerous international dubbing projects.
A founding member of The Long Shots, one of Cape Town’s longest-running improvisation companies, Rob has been performing with the troupe since its inception in 2011. Alongside his performance work, he has directed productions, facilitated workshops and inspired countless actors and first-time improvisers to discover the discipline, confidence and joy that improvisation brings.
Since joining the ACT team in 2017, Rob has become endeared to students for his infectious enthusiasm, generosity and ability to create a safe, supportive learning environment. He teaches improvisation alongside a range of acting modules that encourage performers to embrace spontaneity, truthful connection, compelling storytelling and a fearless sense of play.
Rob is passionate about helping actors unlock their creative potential. His coaching empowers students to take risks, collaborate with confidence and develop an authentic artistic voice.
